How
to Receive a Massage or Facial
Arrive
early and give yourself plenty of time prepare for your spa treatments.
The sauna or fitness center at the spa is an option. Warm muscles
benefit more from body work.
Showers
A
warm shower just before your massage is relaxing and washes off
any salts, minerals or chemicals that could clog your pores when
mixed with massage oils.
Serenity
Room
This
is where you can relax in a soothing atmosphere of beautiful calming
music as you sip on hot herbal tea, decaffeinated herbal coffee,
eat fresh fruit or just close your eyes and enjoy the quiet while
your tension and stress slowly dissipates. You may enjoy this
experience before and after your spa treatment if you choose.
Dress
the Part
Unless
the service description specifies that your massage is received
while clothes are on, you should undress to your comfort level.
Our massage therapists and aestheticians are professionals and
they uphold your comfort level first and foremost.
They are trained to drape towels and sheets discreetly over any
area of your body not involved in the treatment. Your
privacy and modesty will be protected at all times.
To
Avoid Burning
To avoid burning, remove all jewelry and extra clothing during
heat treatments.
Infections
or Other Medical Conditions
If you have an infectious disease such as a cold, flu, skin rash,
etc., mention it to your therapist. Deep massages can increase
your health risk and add to the discomfort brought about by these
ailments.
Mention
any medical conditions such as high blood pressure, heart problems,
headaches, varicose veins or recent surgery.
Talk
With Your Therapist
Before
your massage begins, tell your therapist which areas you would
like to focus on and which areas you want avoided. During your
massage, let the therapist know if you feel any discomfort or
pain. Communication is key to getting the massage you desire.
Remember: Deep doesn’t necessarily mean better
and receiving a deep tissue therapeutic massage shouldn’t
cause you pain.
Don’t
be afraid to ask questions about the products being used or the
condition of your skin.
Relax
Close
your eyes and allow your mind and body to be as quiet as possible.
Breathe slowly and deeply and let the tension slip away with each
breath. Remember, this time is for you.
Allow
your therapist to move your limbs into position. Be limp and do
not try to assist in the movement of your limbs unless the therapist
requests your assistance.
Note:
We use fragrance free massage oils unless a specific fragrance is
requested by the client. Lotion is available upon request. |
